Inflatable Paddle Board

Many times during my early trips I got frustrated that I had no means of ‘getting out onto the water’ at many locations. I am a pretty keen kayaker and the La Bestia layout was not really designed to carry a small hard shell kayak. It was considered as a possibility to carry one inside however I thought better of it as it would fill the precious void and become a pain.

Many years ago I had a wooden paddle board to muck around on when we weren’t water skiing. This got me thinking to try a kids SUP board and use it as a paddle board. I bought a cheap Kings one along with a two piece kayak paddle and ventured forth. It’s too small for me to stand up on but it is very compact, quick to inflate (I use an Ozito blower for the most part) and does the job. The end of the blower fits perfectly in the inlet! The last bit of pressure is achieved using the hand pump.
